Mad River Brewing John Barleycorn Barleywine Ale

12oz.

9.1% abv

I didn't know what to expect with this. In fact, I was expecting something sweeter. What I got, was a tasty and strong bodied ale. It poured fairly flat, with a rich dark color. Aroma was quite nice, almost like a Brown Ale. It was better balanced than most Brown's I've had, with a smooth body and light aftertaste. So basically just a dark, strong ale. It was a bit strong in the alcohol taste though, making this the third beer in a row with overly strong alcohol notes. This one was the least offensive, but still a bit much for a garage working, sipping beer.
